Lecture Session: The lecture session will start with an introduction to the prospects in the industry, also how Vaanahaa and the institute together can help them achieve their career goal.

Session 1: Theory (Introduction to Bridge Design) - 3 hrs. Lecture by Mr. Satadru Chowdhury

Key Topics:

● Bridge Engineering

o An Introduction

o Design concepts involved in different types of Bridges

● Structural responses due to different loads

● Case studies for a better understanding of Bridge Design concepts

Lunch Break for 45 Mins to 1 Hour

Session 2: Practical Session (SAP2000) - 4 hrs.

Introduction to SAP2000 software

●

Grid/Coordinate system

●

Material defining as per Indian Standard

●

Load analysis of beam using IS:800-2007 and IS:456-2000

●

2D Truss Analysis using SAP2000

●

3D Truss Analysis using SAP2000

2nd Day:

Session 3: Design Session (SAP2000) – 1-1.5 hrs.

Design and Analysis of Own Truss Bridge based on the understanding of Session 2

●

Session 4: Fabrication Session – 3 hours hrs.

●

Fabrication of Truss Bridge model using Balsa Wood

Lunch Break for 45 Mins to 1 hour

Session 5: Practical Session – 2 hrs

●

Load testing and efficiency checking of Balsa wood Bridge

(Closing Session with the announcement of Top Participants based on the performance)
