Have you ever had a question come up, linger in your mind only to disappear? How does a plant know what leaf pattern to produce? Why do certain sounds sound more appealing than others? How does one nation gain so much power? How does a smell suddenly transport us to a different place?
I see you nodding! These bubbling questions are integral to humanity and probably the most wonderful thing about our existence. But how often do we make time (and space) in our lives to pursue these side quests? ‘A Brief Study Of’ at the Eleven AM Club is an attempt at that — making time to deeply learn, read, and write uninterrupted, along with others dedicated to the cause.
I imagine all of us bringing questions, books, and bookmarked articles each Sunday, and settling in for reading and writing in silence at the club.

Three silent blocks at 3:20, 4:20 and 5:20pm.

The idea is that we spend a slow and thoughtful afternoon browsing, discussing, note-taking, and collecting materials that spark curiosity.
