Introducing the illustrious Dr. Vasundhara, a danseuse par excellence, versatile choreographer, and venerated guru of Bharatanatyam. Hailing from the princely city of Mysore, Dr. Vasundhara has become a phenomenon in the Indian classical dance scenario over the past five decades. Her performances are a testament to her profound terpsichorean ingenuity, marked by impromptu improvisations, esoteric footwork, and captivating histrionic propensities. Her myriad choreographies, encompassing a wide spectrum of spiritual and secular themes, are striking paradigms of her inventive brilliance.

A pioneer disciple of the renowned Shri Pattabhi Jois from Mysore in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Dr. Vasundhara has earned a Ph.D. for her research on the correlation between Yoga and Bharatanatyam. She is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the 'Shantala Award,' the highest Karnataka state award, and the 'Karnataka Kala Tilak' from the Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy. Her multidisciplinary achievements also include expertise in the martial arts of 'Tang-ta' and 'Kalarippayattu.'

Dr. Vasundhara has been honored with the 'Kala Vipanchi' award by Padma Vibhushan Shri Balamurali Krishna, the 'Shreshta Kala Pracharak' award from Padma Bhushan Saroja Vaidyanathan, and the 'Chandana' award by Doordarshan India. She is the only recipient of the Asthana Nritya Ratna from Shri Shri Vishwapriyateertha, Shri Krishna Mutt, Udupi. Her accolades also include the State Rajyotsava Award [Karnataka], Natya Jyothi [Australia], and Millennium Award [USA].

Her solo choreographies, such as 'Panchali' and 'Ganga Lahari,' are noted for their unique adaptations and detailed narrations. She is the only choreographer in Bharatanatyam to venture into a dance production of 'Sama Veda,' the fountainhead of Indian classical music and Bharatanatyam. An A-Graded Artist in Doordarshan, Dr. Vasundhara is a member of the expert committee for Bharatanatyam appointed by the Department of Culture, Govt. of India.

Dr. Vasundhara is the only Bharatanatyam danseuse from India to have been invited to perform for the 'WORLD PEACE' conference in Paris under the aegis of UNESCO. She travels worldwide, conducting workshops in Bharatanatyam and Yoga, and has performed at numerous international festivals and events. She is a visiting Guest Professor at Alabama University in the US and has been conferred the Honorary Citizen of Louisville and a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mayor of Louisville, USA.
