About the Event

Amrita Sher-Gil — the very name conjures an oeuvre of extraordinary paintings, deeply personal, contemplative, and trailblazing. In this specially-curated experience at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, relish 10 of Amrita’s masterpieces as you explore the contexts in which they were conceived, the multiple layers of meaning they hold, and how Amrita truly lived a life in art, immortalized on her incredible canvases.


About the Walk Curators & Producers


The walk will be led by Eric Chopra (Founder, itihāsology) & Kudrat B. Singh (Co-founder, itihāsology). 


Eric Chopra is the founder of itihāsology. He completed his studies in History from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He is a writer, speaker, curator, and podcaster. His work primarily focuses on histories of art, aesthetics, monuments, emotions, sexuality, and the otherworld. He designs and leads a range of experiences at museums and monuments. Chopra is the co-host of the For Old Times’ Sake Podcast and Jaipur Literature Festival’s Jaipur Bytes Podcast. He also writes and curates for numerous festivals & events focused on heritage and the arts. 


Kudrat Singh completed her studies in History at St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi, and holds an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies from the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include the socio-political aspects of development, gender studies, and subnational identity politics. For itihāsology, she frequently writes on India’s art, architecture, & modern history, and co-curates museum and heritage experiences. She is the co-host of the For Old Times’ Sake Podcast.


The walk is produced by Excurators — a dynamic events production house acclaimed for curating a range of festivals and experiences with a focus on the arts, music, design, heritage, and more. The production leads for the walks are Rohan Singh and Amir Irshad.
