We're opening with a (covid-safe) bang! Focusing on the little people who had such difficult lives in the past 2 years, and to give their exhausted caregivers a little break.

The last few years have seen exponential development in the field of ‘Early Years Theatre’ in India. As a celebration of this phenomenal development in our country and to bring some of these pioneering performances to the youngest citizens of Mumbai, Harkat Studios & Extensions Arts are bringing together a ‘BABY THEATRE WEEKEND’ ~ plays made especially for young audiences between 6 months to 4 years.

Children older than the mentioned age group are welcome to join, but younger than the stipulated age is not advised.

In this edition, we will be hosting three plays at our space in Aram Nagar. All plays will be in-person, and one will be available to watch at home.

A visitor sits on the window sill every day. It is a little bird, in search of all the little things it needs. Curiosity brings the bird and a little child together and a new friendship begins. The two friends discover many things around them. We see glimpses of the time they spend together. Through the play we share their joys and discoveries. The play, produced by Gillo Repertory Theatre, is inspired by baby poems and food rhymes from different Indian languages.

Dreamscape at Home produced by ThinkArts, is an assemblage of sensorial experiences for children in a thoughtfully created environment, to allow children to dream and discover an imagined world through a digital art platform. The film is an exploration of materials (paper, wool, clay) and spaces (forest, sky). Short videos created by ThinkArts’ associate artists will take children on a journey traversing these materials and spaces and invite the grown-ups to imagine similar experiences in their homes. For at-home-watchers, parents are invited to explore these materials with their children alongside. For in-person theatre audience: a facilitator will provide materials to the children to explore while watching the films.

She’s going to recruit some “new” explorers from the audience, creating funny and hilarious moments that will lead everyone to find the…shhh, its still a secret! This play is produced and performed by Monica Santos.
