Artist

A band that set the tone for many future artists of the Indian independent music scene, Indian Ocean is one of the pioneering acts in the country. Formed in 1990, the band’s music blends experimental grooves with Indian ragas, complementing it with seamless bass lines, intricate guitar solos, creating a sound that resonates with world music. But their music is just one part of their act. The band writes its own lyrics, using Hindi, as well as borrowing from many local dialects and folk melodies. Their songs sit under themes like spiritualism, activism, environmentalism, the futility of war and mythology, and hence percolated into films Kandisa (2002), Desert Rain (1997), and Leaving Home (2010). The first Indian band to be on the cover of the Rolling Stone India magazine, they have also composed music for movies like Black Friday (2007), Peepli Live (2010), and Masaan (2015).

Often hailed as India’s biggest cultural & musical export, Raghu Dixit’s music is strongly rooted in Indian traditions and culture. And although it sounds very contemporary, it does have a global appeal - at a level we seldom see Indian artists garner. The Raghu Dixit Project is an open house for artists; irrespective of genre, language, or sound that has toured across the world and played shows at festivals like Glastonbury & Lovebox - led by the one & only, Raghu Dixit. His repertoire includes "Mysore se aayi," "Jag Changa," "Antaragni," "Hey Bhagwan," "Har Saans Mein," "Gudugudiya," and "Khidki." If you haven't experienced his music yet, drop everything and book tickets for his next show.
A contemporary fusion music band with jazz-laced rhythms. Formed in the early '90s, Indian Ocean has been one of the spearheads of the Indian rock scene. Their unique sound of contemporary rock mixed with classical, jazz and fusion have earned them a cult following. Their band has managed to maintain this inimitable sound in all their albums and have attained some rave reviews from critics. Some of the themes of their songs are sufism, environmentalism and mythology. Definitely exclusive in what they do, Indian Ocean have toured all over India and played all across the globe.
