About the Event

Celebrating Pride Month, One Future Collective, Social and KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is proud to present two screening programs as part of Social's 'Queer Art Fest'.


Best of KASHISH #1

June 21st | 6.30pm onwards

6 independent LGBTQ films and Q&A with Filmmakers


Best of KASHISH #1 is a curated program of some of the finest Indian LGBTQ films from the films that have won awards or appreciation at previous editions of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. They showcase the diversity of Indian LGBTQ experience with humour, drama and lots of love.

 

The program contains 6 films and is for 96 mins and includes films in Hindi, Bengali and Pahari. All films are subtitled in English.

There will be a 1 hour moderated Q&A with filmmakers of all the films.



SHAADI KE KAPDE

DEVI

Set in New Delhi, the narrative follows Tara, a feisty teenager dealing with the realities of being queer in contemporary India. When caught pursuing her attraction towards her household maid, she must suddenly define who she really is amidst severely classist and homophobic society.


KHWAAISH      

Dir: Sumit Pawar

A dream love story set in the busy streets of Mumbai giving the glimpses of the city life during monsoons.

 


IDENTICAL DREAMS

Dir: Cynthia Roli Gupta

20 min / Hindi, English

A conversation between two women, this film is a simple story of love. Love of the purest kind. That one can’t help but feel for someone, not based on physicality or infatuation, but a deep connect two people find in each other. 


THE FISH CURRY

Dir: Abhishek Verma

12 min / Hindi

Lalit Ghosh, 28, decides to come-out to his Parents. He is in love with a man, his very own room partner, Ashutosh Gautam. He cooks his father’s favorite dish, the traditional fish curry (Maacher Jhol) with great effort. He serves it to his father and confronts his sexuality over the dinner table. Will Lalit’s dad love the delicious fish curry?

Your favourite festival will be back for its 11th edition - this time in a digital avatar as KASHISH 2020 Virtual.

It will be held from July 22nd to July 30th as a 9-day event screening 100+ films, panel discussions, opening & closing ceremonies with performances, etc.
