Comics are one of the few story-telling formats that successfully combine text and imagery. Like cinema, its appeal is largely visual and the varied styles of graphic art stimulate the readers’ imagination to piece the story together.

The workshop aims at exposing the participants to a rich medium of comics and graphic novels and how to create comics as a vehicle to express their thoughts. The artist will narrate his personal experiences about capturing stories within panels on a page. The participants will be guided into a hands-on session to create their own short comics with feedback from the artist.

About the artist:

Mumbai-based Nikhil Chaudhary is an Architect-Urban Designer and works with World Resources Institute India, an environmental think tank. Simultaneously, he is also a self-taught graphic artist and has independently created comics since 2011. Nikhil’s graphic stories communicate the human negotiations of urban-dwellers with their built realities. His work has been published in national newspapers, professional magazines and a forthcoming anthology by Harper Collins India.
