Transport:

The bus/jeep will take you to the camping location directly; there's no trekking involved. The approximate distance from Mumbai is 161 km, and from Kasara, it’s approximately 70 km. If you do not reach on time, the pickup vehicles will move out without you. No refunds will be provided in such cases.

Tent Stay:

A Styrofoam mat will be provided in the tents for comfort. Tents will be allocated on a three-sharing basis. For twin sharing, an additional ₹500 per couple is required. For an exclusive tent for one person, an additional ₹800 will be applicable.

The tent will have a Styrofoam mat similar to a yoga mat. To enhance comfort, we recommend carrying a bedsheet or blanket. Please note that this is not a regular camping event; the tents are very basic dome tents.

In case of heavy rain, an attempt will be made to provide shelter in the forest/mountain region. Tents cannot be pitched in rain, strong winds, or unfavorable weather conditions. The attempt to find shelter will be made on a best-effort basis, but availability cannot be assured. Do not book this event if you are uncomfortable with such conditions.

The campsite is lake-touching, but due to 90% of dam water being drained, the water level has significantly receded.

Washrooms:

There are three basic washrooms available within a 2-minute walking distance. This is a tribal (Adivasi) area, so the washrooms are quite basic. (Refer to the album link provided in the image section.)

Food:

During the Fireflies Festival, food is sourced from local Adivasi villagers. It is basic home-cooked food prepared by villagers in the region. For several years, participants have loved this food, but since the lockdown ended, unrealistic expectations have emerged. The food remains authentic village food.

If food is your top priority, we do not recommend booking this event. Alternatively, you may bring packaged food if you are particular about food quality.

Add-On Options:

Boating ride at Bhandardara Lake – ₹100 per person

Life jackets – ₹100 rental fee

These add-ons may not be available if water levels drop further, as the Irrigation Department plans to drain the dam water soon.

Traveling by Own Vehicle:

Ideally, participants should meet the group at Dogra Food Mall (Kasara) at the specified time and proceed to the campsite together with the trek leader and other participants.

Important: The campsite is in a remote location with poor network coverage. Coordination can be difficult if you attempt to reach the campsite directly.

If you are hiring a driver or driving yourself, every individual person arriving at the campsite must be registered as a participant and pay the event charges. If you do not wish to pay for your driver, they may drop you off and return to pick you up the next day.

Rain & Weather:

The monsoon season begins in June. Initially, the soil absorbs most of the rain, but as time passes, water flow increases.

Light drizzle will not affect the event; the tent fabric is water-resistant.

In the event of extreme rain or stormy weather, participants will take shelter in a nearby village home (a hall with two rooms).

This shelter is only for extreme weather protection and not a stay option.

A second shelter is also available 3 minutes away from the campsite.

Reminder:

This event is focused on firefly watching, not camping.

Tents or dormitory stays are only for overnight shelter. If the weather is severe, accommodation will be shifted to a homestay, dormitory, or shelter instead of tents.

Do NOT book this event if your priority is luxury or comfort camping.

Fireflies Sighting:

Fireflies glow only when weather conditions are suitable for mating. Since we are transitioning from summer to monsoon, the weather is unpredictable.

Natural phenomena such as rain, wind, flowers, fireflies, clouds, heat waves, cool breezes, and humidity are not under our control.

During the Fireflies Festival, sometimes thousands of fireflies may be spotted, while at other times, only a few may be seen.

The first and last batches of the festival generally see fewer fireflies.
