As part of an exhibition of spring/summer clothing by designer duo Ruchi Tripathi and Jaya Bhatt of Indigene, Artisans' invites you to explore block printing under the guidance of a skilled artisan!

The printing workshop will be conducted by Vipin Chippa, s/o Bhagwati Lal Chippa. Vipin resides in Akola, a small town near Udaipur in Southern Rajasthan. His family has been practicing dabu printing since generations, specially in making the 'phetia' fabric that was originally used in ghagras by the local communities. The Chippa family specialises in dabu printing and natural dyeing. They have also been practicing hand block prints using pigment technique for many years and produce for the national and international market.

During the workshop, Vipin will give a demonstration on how to use hand block using pigment technique. The participants will get to print a scarf each using the blocks and colours available to their creativity. The good thing is they also get to take home this beautiful crocheted edge scarf. Vipin will also give them a sneek peek to the process of dabu printing that his family has been traditionally working on.
