About the Event

One of the 114 monuments listed by the Baroda Heritage Trust in the state of Gujarat is Jami Masjid, which directly translates to a public mosque. Its construction spanned over 25 years, and it's an architectural testimony to the Hindu and Islamic style of decoration. Deemed as one of the greatest mosques in Western India, it is a part of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With fractal carvings on the ceiling and 'jaali' designs at the base of the minar, Jami Masjid is considered to be the most beautiful building in Champaner.

Dated back to the 15th century, this mosque has a grand structure with two stories and several prayer halls separated by almost 200 pillars. While the mosque has three different entrances, the eastern porch is known for its beautifully detailed carving and Jali designs. Head out and visit this architectural structure which blends the Hindu and Muslim style of architecture.
