This workshop on Communicative Spanish aims to introduce the participants to the Spanish language as it is spoken and written currently. The workshop will also give participants a glimpse into the rich culture of the Spanish speaking countries of the world.

Recommended for participants who are over 20 years of age and has basic knowledge of English grammar. 

Participants will have the opportunity to acquire the fundamental vocabulary and grammatical knowhow required for basic interactions such as greetings and salutations, asking and answering simple questions, making requests, expressing preferences and abilities, and sharing ideas and opinions on topics from daily life. Along the way, the course will explore iconic artworks, famous works of literature, music, films, cuisine and other important cultural aspects from the various countries that speak Spanish as an official language. The course will also include knowhow on ways to further develop skills in the language and obtain certifications such as the DELE, and the various opportunities that knowledge of the Spanish language can open up in the current job market and in the academic world.

Trainer profile 

Abhijit Roy has been teaching Spanish as a corporate coach and as personal tutor to professionals, and to students both at collegiate and school levels for a long time. Presently, he is currently employed full time as a Spanish language teacher at an international school. He holds a DELE C1 level certificate in Spanish and is pursuing an M.A. degree in the language. His poetry in Spanish has been published in the international literary magazine Sur, revista de literatura and his translations to Bengali of two poems of Pablo Neruda have been published in an anthology at the Kolkata Book Fair.
