Fahim Irshad's first feature, Aani Maani, is a tale set in a small humdrum town of Uttar Pradesh. The government's call to ban beef and the shutting down of slaughterhouses sends the life of Bhutto, a Muslim kebab seller, into a tailspin. Irshad's informed imagery and a very nuanced approach to identity and sectarian politics along with the portrayal of a small middle class family and their simple joys makes the film a tough, yet evocative and warm watch.

Aani Maani made its first buzz at MAMI 2019 and the Berlin Festival in 2019; it later went on to screen in multiple festivals internationally.

The film will be screened with English subtitles.
