Gypsy Jazz with The Big Other live at Skinny Mo’s

The Big Other is an acoustic, instrumental jazz ensemble inspired by the Quintette du Hot Club de France, led by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Returning to Skinny Mo’s Jazz Club, they will take you on a journey through Roma/Sinti traditional folk music that predates the genre of ‘gypsy jazz,’ the swinging acoustic sound of Django’s era, turn-of-the-century modernist Parisian classical influences, and compositions deeply rooted in gypsy culture. Adding a local touch, they will also reinterpret well-loved Bollywood and Kazi Nazrul Islam songs in their signature style, alongside original Bengali compositions that capture the essence of this lively tradition.
