Heartland Assam is an exhilarating journey covering Majuli and Molai Forest. Molai forest is the only man made forest in India. The forest was created by Jadav Payeng, who has been since given the name - Forest Man of India and has won many prestigious awards including the Padma Bhushan. Also explore Majuli, the largest riverine island in the world. 

Enjoy biking, birding, wi;dlife, river crossing, camping and trekking through the forest when you join us for Heartland Assam. Stay at well appointed riverside tents and enjoy the tranquility of nature. If there is time, you can also spend some time fishing in the Brahmaputra.

Day 1 - Reach Jorhat and get picked up by our team. The crew will take you to our riverside campsite and check in. Enjoy a beach walk and catch the spectacular sunset, if you are lucky you can get to see flocks of birds heading home too. Later in the evening, sit down by the bonfire and catch up on some good old fashioned camping music. Enjoy the dinner prepared by our crew and get to sleep early for a busy day.

Day 2 - Wake up early and post breakfast, move out for the trek to Molai forest by boat. Our experienced guide and crew will accompany you. A 30 minute boat ride takes you to Molai forest. Land on the beach and start your trek. If you choose to bike, the journey takes 2 hours, on foot, it would take 3.5 hours. On the route catch birds and animals like elephant, rhinos and if you are lucky, you may also spot a Royal Bengal tiger. On the trek, you also get to meet Jadav Payeng, the creator of the forest and learn about his afforestation techniques. Once you complete the trek, cross the river again into Majuli and check into the campsite at Majuli. Post lunch, you can lay back and just read a book or check the pictures you may have clicked or just take a nap. By evening, chat up with the crew and explore the area next to the campsite. Evening bonfire and dinner and sleep early for another eventful day.

Day 3 - After breakfast, move out with the crew to visit the Satras, the temples of Vaishnavite culture. Meet the priests at the Satras and learn about their style of living. Our crew will then take you to visit some local families and you can learn more about mask making, local handlooms and also about assamese silk. Post lunch move out with the crew on bikes to the river ghat. You will then cross the Brahmaputra back into Jorhat. The ferry ride takes about 1,5 hours and you can witness the vast waters of the Brahmaputra as you cross the river. Once you reach Nimati (river ghat), you can then check out for your onward journey
