About the Event
We will sit down for a chat with Geetanjali Kulkarni in an Open Q&A, to talk about her experience as a theatre and performance artist - we will delve into the changing notions of performance, the opening up of new possibilities, the role of the actor in the world today, and what the future holds for the stage. There will also be space for attending participants to ask their own questions.
About Geetanjali Kulkarni: Geetanjali Kulkarni, an alumni of National School of Drama (1996), is an actor. She has acted in Professional as well as Experimental plays in Marathi and Hindi.
Mukkam Post Bombilwadi, Sangeet Debuchya Muli, Sex Morality & Censorship, Ek Rikaami baaju, Mummtazbhai Patangwale, Gajab Kahani and Piya Behrupiya are some of the important productions.
She has received awards for the Best Actor, Female (Z Awards) for Ek Rikaami Baaju and Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Female (META Awards) for Sex,Morality and Censorship.She has been awarded Sahitya Pratishthan's Vinod Doshi Fellowship for Young Theatre Artistes for the year 2011-2012. Piya Behrupiya (an adaptation of Shakespeare’sTwelfth Night), premiered at the Globe to Globe festival at The Globe Theatre, London. She also played one of the leads in critically acclaimed film COURT, which has received many National and International Awards and bagged Filmfare (Marathi) award for Best Actor female - Critic’s Choice. Recently she featured on OTT platform web shows like Gullak and Tajmahal 1989.
She was a part of the core team led by Jehan Manekshaw who contributed in ideation and establishment of Drama School Mumbai. She also was head of Quest’s Goshtarang program which created performances based on children’s literature for enhancing reading and writing skills, especially among underprivileged children of rural Maharashtra.
