Kalavantin Durg Trek - A Thrilling Experience near Mumbai

The fortress is a part of the Sahyadri Mountain Range located between Panvel and Matheran at an elevation of 2300 feet above sea level. The major attraction of this fort is the steps leading to the pinnacle which have been carved out from the belly of the mountain itself, which is an engineering masterpiece. As compared to all the fortresses built around the world, this fortress comes without any safety fence or ropes, thus giving it the tag of one of the most dangerous places in the world.

Kalavantin Durg Trek Event Itinerary

Saturday, December 24, 2022:

Catch CSMT - Panvel SLOW local

05:20 am - CSMT

05:38 am - Vadala

05:49 am - Kurla

06:09 am - Vashi

6:40 am - Panvel

6:40 am - Assemble at Panvel Railway Station near ticket counter and meet the trek leader.

07:00 am - Travel from Panvel Railway Station to Base Village by Local Auto/Tumtum

08:00 am - Reach at Base village and walk towards the breakfast point.

Introduction and have breakfast.

09:00 am - Start ascending.

10:30 am - Reach Prabalmachi and take a short break to freshen up.

11:00 am - Start climb to Kalavantin Top.

12:00 pm - Summit Kalavantin Pinnacle and enjoy the panoramic views of surrounding mountains.

12:30 pm - Start descend towards Prabalmachi

01:30 pm - Reach Prabalnachi and have delicious lunch prepared by villagers.

02:30 pm - Start descending towards Base village

04:00 pm - Reach base village and leave for Panvel Station.

05:00 pm - Reach panvel station and say goodbye with promise to catch up again for another adventure!

Please note

People may board same train from their respective stations of convenience. It's a slow train and will halt at all stations.

Missing the train is missing Kalavantin Durg Trek, no refund will be provided.

Changing room and washroom facility will be available only at the Prabalmachi.
