Patachitra or Pattachitra is a general term for traditional, cloth-based scroll painting, based in the eastern Indian state of Odisha. The name Pattachitra has evolved from the Sanskrit words 'Patta' meaning canvas, and 'Chitra' meaning picture. It is thus a painting done on canvas and is manifested by rich colourful application, creative motifs, designs, and portrayal of simple themes, mostly mythological in depiction.

Sadly, this art is reaching closure amongst a small community that is tyring to propagate to the masses and relive it among the modern youth. Pattachitra is a centuries-old art that is now seeking manifestation in youth.

In this workshop, we will take you through detailed learning of this Indian folk art including the Pattachitra art patterns and techniques. We will also work on creating floral borders and other Pattachitra art.

• A6 chart paper
