Varun Aggarwal will explain the trends in migration in the last decade and the reverse migration we are seeing today backed by data and research. The session is an overview of the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the Indian migrants both within India and overseas.


About the Speaker:


Varun Aggarwal is the founder of India Migration Now, a Mumbai based migration research, advocacy and services agency. His research has focused on migration and development. His initial experience with migration research was at the European Institute for Asian Studies in Brussels, where he focused on integration policies for asylum seekers and migrants in the EU. Next, he worked with Dvara Research (previously IFMR Finance Foundation) in Chennai on issues around digital financial inclusion. He has worked on projects with the ILO, Tata Trusts, European Union, the World Bank amongst others. His initial professional experience came working for a range of early-stage startups in the US. Varun obtained a BA in Mathematics from the University of Washington in Seattle and an MSc in Economics from Maastricht University. 

 

The Medici Effect Series is a lecture series at TIFA that discusses innovation that happens when disciplines, ideas and cultures intersect.
