About the Event
Kolkata in the early 70s. The leftists are all gearing up with the anti establishment movement. Babul, a suburban boy, comes to Kolkata to do the college and eventually meets Mitra, a third year student from the same college. Babul gets to know that Mitra is an unusual girl by all means. She is a lesbian. She desires a girl only. An ostracized Mitra gets someone to depend on for anything, and Babul, being a secret lover, suffers Mitra beyond everything. Mitra falls for Namita, another junior from the same college. Pandey, Babuls roommate and friend, dreams of Mitra while Manohar, Namita's so-called boyfriend, hates knowing her interest in Namita. The story revolves around these characters in the background of the political scenario of the burning city of the 70s. Mitra solely personified the anti establishment movement. Babul represents the mass who could never approve Mitra's choice of love but stands for her with an unconditional love for Mitra.
