About the Walk: Immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind experience in the historic lanes of Ballimaran. Join Chandrashekhar Tampi on a mesmerizing journey through Ghalib's Delhi, delving into his profound love for Shayari through a unique perspective. The evening will conclude with a captivating performance by the talented Rene Singh and Lokesh Jain, set amidst the grandeur of one of Asia's oldest educational institutions.


About the artists:

Chandrashekhar Tampi: Chandra Tampi is a senior partner in the M&A practice of a law firm. He is a history enthusiast and conducts heritage walks in Delhi and other places.

Chandra has collaborated with Hindustani vocalist Ms. Vidya Shah on programs based on History of Delhi and it's Poets and is a performer at the Habitat Centre, IIC and Jashn -i-rekhta.


Rene Singh: Rene Singh is a singer trained in semi-classical music. She has a vast knowledge of Sufi and Urdu poetry, which has led her to delve into its history and musically present the lives of various poets to the people across the globe. Singh curates and designs modules and workshops through poetry and music. Her work is based on her vast travels and interactions with different communities and music across the country, including conflict zones. She has partnered with UNICEF to create musical stories for community radio in the remote villages of the country and has earned great appreciation for her work in Kashmir with orphan girls affected by terrorism. She is the founding member of HUM: Hamari Urdu Mohabbat, which has become a leading group for performing this form of poetry and singing.


Lokesh Jain: Lokesh Jain, a dialogue writer, has been trained by the eminent theatre director Shri E. Alkazi. He has written, directed and acted in several theatre productions. His better-known works include Delhi Boom (2007), Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande (2011) and Ghode ko Jalebi khane le ja riya Hoon (2019).


Actor performing as Ghalib: Sharique Mohammad Aziz is a theatre worker, solo performer, and research scholar, With a passion for Urdu poetry and drama. He has dedicated himself to bringing to life the work of some of the most celebrated poets and playwrights of the language. He has a special affinity for portraying Urdu poets, particularly Sahir Ludhianvi, Meer Anis, Makhdoom Mohiuddin, and Majaz Lucknawi, whose work he brings to life with passion and skill. Sharique has also contributed to celebrated plays with Pierrot Troupe, including Ghalib in New Delhi, Sons of Babur, Mohan Se Mahatma and many more. His theatre performances are a dynamic and engaging way to showcase the depth and richness of the Urdu

language, while his research sheds light on the cultural traditions and artistic expressions that have shaped the language and its literary heritage.


Additional information: This is a 3.5-hour experience. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Carry a bottle of water for Ballimaran.
