Irani Café’s are a legacy brought by Zoroastrian Irani’s to Mumbai over a 100 years back. Known for their legendary “Bun Maska” (Bun & Butter) and “Irani Chai” these cafes served as a meeting point for people of various communities who could converse over a cup of Tea and some snacks. Many of these café’s have evolved into fancier versions whilst a few still retain their original versions of wooden tables, bent wood chairs and chequered table cloths. On this walk we will cover a few of these iconic Irani Cafes, learn about their famous dishes as well as sample a delicacy from each café.
