If you've ever thought, "I'm not musical enough for musical improv," this workshop is for you.
Musical improv isn't about having a perfect singing voice—it's about listening, storytelling, pattern recognition, and play. In this workshop, you'll explore simple musical concepts, experiment with rhyme and rhythm, learn useful song structures, and practise turning scenes into songs without overthinking them.
Through musical games, collaborative exercises, and spontaneous performances, you'll build choruses and verses while exploring classic musical improv formats such as the Irish Drinking Song and the Hoedown.
No musical experience is required. Just bring your curiosity, a willingness to sing badly before you sing brilliantly, and a playful spirit.
Schedule
This course runs over three days across two consecutive weekends, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on all three days:
• Saturday, June 13
• Sunday, June 14
• Saturday, June 20
Participants will also have the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills at a special Musical Improv Showcase on World Music Day, Sunday, June 21, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
