About the Event
New World Order is back for its 18th edition with Runt, Inga, and Karshni!
Get ready for a night of eclectic music from the various artists we have lined up for you!
Runt
Runt was born out of a need to create something parallel to all the other projects Siddharth Basrur is involved in. It started out as an exercise for him, aiming to be a better guitarist and bassist. However, he soon took it up as a challenge to see how good he could get at writing and producing music—something he had never attempted before.
Runt’s debut EP, 'Rhymes With', was released in 2017 to great response and was even featured in Rolling Stone India’s top indie EPs of 2017.
In 2020, Runt released a new instrumental single, ‘Last Breath’, which was well-received by critics and listeners, and made it to Rolling Stone India’s top singles of 2020.
Runt’s most recent single, ‘Too Smart’, was released in October 2024 and is part of their debut album, set to release in 2025.
INGA
INGA takes her name from a Tamil word that loosely means ‘to be present’.
Influenced by Fela Kuti’s fearless performances, Devendra Banhart’s eccentric vocals, and Jim Morrison’s visual writing, INGA’s sound is a unique blend. Anchored in a melodic voice, her songs are set against memorable riffs and thumping beats, artfully blending folk, pop, and jazz.
Anointed as the winner of NEXA Music S2 by A.R. Rahman, this Mumbai-based artist finds her way to being ‘present’ in the world with her genre-fluid music.
Karshni
Karshni’s work explores themes of gender, death, indulgence, and the fear of ageing, often with ruthless candour. Her music is an interlocking structure of metaphor and meaning, abstract yet telling. Her sound oscillates between a lush electronic landscape while maintaining indie-folk influences.
Though themes of bodily harm, overindulgence, and gender dysphoria may not be suited for every crowd, Karshni believes a light, malleable voice can persuade anyone to listen and reflect.
Her work has been featured in Rolling Stone India, Wild City, Platform Magazine, and GQ. Karshni’s performance repertoire includes festivals like NH7, Ziro, and Magnetic Fields.
