About the Event
The imperial capital of Shahjahanabad was one of the first cities to be sacked in the rebellion in 1857. The chaos that ensued can still be viewed in the structures that survived; they still echo stories from the city’s troubled past. One area that witnessed the entire rebellion from its vantage point was the Delhi Ridge, and this is what we set out to explore. The heritage walk takes you to the 14th century observatory that got its name from a mysterious pir, a battered mosque that faced heavy shelling, the British Viceregal Lodge and other memorials built by the British.
Interested in uncovering Delhi rebellious past under the British Raj? Join us for an exploratory walk along the Delhi Ridge, which played an important role in the rebellion that swept the city.
