Penn Masala - the world’s first South Asian a cappella group - is a group of students at the University of Pennsylvania who take a fresh look at a cappella (singing without instruments) by blending the best of South Asian sounds with the latest from the Western music scenes.
They have released nine full-length studio albums: Resonance, Kaavish, Panoramic, On Detours, Pehchaan, The Brown Album, Soundcheck, 11 PM, and Awaaz. Over the years they've performed for President Obama at the White House, the IIFA and Star Screen Awards, Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal in London, and sold-out crowds in India that included Sachin Tendulkar & the Ambani family. With over 100+ performances at 50+ different universities, they regularly tour across the U.S. They have a very popular YouTube channel with over 93,000 subscribers, and their most popular video has over two million views!
