About the Event

Rickety Roads presents a photo-walk in Bandra with Kunal Bhatia & Shuvajit Payne. No matter what your level in photography, or whether your shoot on an SLR, a point-&-shoot or your cell phone, our photo-walks are open to everyone and offer interesting photography opportunities for all levels.

We meet outside the Birdsong Cafe on Waroda Road; and start by first exploring the winding lanes of Ranwar Village. Try your hand out at some architectural and street photography in between quaint little houses and brightly painted graffiti!

Following this, we head to Mount Mary Church (a 1.2km walk for the enthusiastic ones or a 5min drive away) where a magnificent structure awaits. There are also some street stalls here to try your hand at photographing markets & people; while photography inside the church is permitted on cell phone only.

We then walk down to Bandra Fort right in time for sunset. Not withstanding the crowds, it's a fabulous vantage point for photographing the sea, the rocks, the (hopefully) colourful skies and ofcourse the Bandra Worli Sea Link.

What to bring: Charged camera / phone to shoot; empty memory card; sturdy shoes (can't do a photo-walk without walking, can we!); drinking water; and if you need to be fed to not be grumpy, get some snacks too!

About the Mentors
Kunal Bhatia is a Mumbai based photographer, architect and writer. He works across the three disciplines and finds inspiration in cities around the world, in the people that he meets and in encounters that are often fleeting. Kunal believes that photography is a medium to not only capture the lives, moments & emotions that surround us but also the means to interpret, dwell & reflect upon these experiences.
Shuvajit Payne is passionate about people and nature photography. After a successful career in management consultancy, he has been working in the development sector in remote regions of India. He firmly believes that photos must tell a story and convey an emotion rather than merely documenting a scene.
Kunal and Shuvajit’s photography works are regularly published in numerous travel, lifestyle and design magazines. These include in-flight magazines (Jet Wings of Jet Airways, Silver Kris of Singapore Airlines); corporate magazines (Imperia for HDFC Bank, Select for Kotak Bank), Lets Travel, MTV Noise Factory etc along with features in Mint Lounge, Daily News and Analysis, Mumbai Mirror Online, Lonely Planet India, The Hindu and others.
