About the Event

The Pichhwai paintings are mainly made to hang in Hindu temples of the Pushtimarg devotional tradition, especially the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara in Rajasthan, which was built around 1672. They are hung behind the idol of Shrinathji, a local form of Krishna, who is the nucleus of Pushtimarg worship. They depict various scenes from Krishnas life. The purpose of pichhwais, other than artistic appeal, is to narrate tales of Krishna to the illiterate.

Let us learn to paint the beautiful form an elephant in this style from our masters in the workshop.
