A Brief About the Play "Ramlala ki Maata" – Story Revisited

This musical play is inspired by a talk by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on how Kaikeyi has been depicted through the ages in the classic epic Ramayana.

Contrary to popular belief, she was one of the most crucial characters in Ramayana, playing a key role in Rama’s path to immortality. With the assistance of Manthara, Kaikeyi ensured that Rama went into exile, unintentionally becoming a symbol of treachery. As a result, for thousands of years, no one has dared to name their daughters Kaikeyi or Manthara.

The play also highlights the glory of Mother Kaushalya, who inspired Rama to choose duty over comfort. This musical is a celebration of love, honor, and sacrifice, portraying the remarkable roles of Indian mothers Kaikeyi, Kaushalya, and Manthara.

The performance beautifully intertwines elements of wisdom, original musical compositions, political satire, topical humor, and lots of fun!
