About the Event

Have you taken your kids to an art gallery and attended a puppetry show among artworks? Here's a unique experience APRE Art House presents in collaboration with Garmikichutti, featuring the only English Chitrakathi Shadow puppetry show on Panchatantra stories by Master artist Chetan Gangavane from Pinguli, Maharashtra. This traditional shadow puppetry show is the perfect way for children to engage with the master artist directly and learn about their heritage art. This will be followed by a 20-minute art activity and end with our contemporary artist Tapan Moharana from Odisha simplifying his artwork "Story of a God" for children. Don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in culture, creativity, and storytelling.

About Chetan Gangwane

The Gangawane family is made up of Chitrakathi artisans who perpetuate the ancient skill while also including modern ideas. Parshuram Gangawane (2021 Padmashree awardee) and his two sons host Chitrakathi performances at a museum every month. The Gangawane family is so committed to preserving their collective art form that they sold their cows and converted their cowshed on Chitrakathi into a museum where they hold workshops and performances – the museum is called the ThakarAdivasi Kala Angan (Museum and Art Gallery) of the ancient village of Pinguli.

About Tapan Moharana

Tapan Moharana is a multidisciplinary artist from Odisha. He seeks inspiration from Pattachitra and therefore executes his stories on Mahabharata. His work is inspired by one of the important tropes of Odia Mahabharata called Nabagunjara.
