Get a low-down on the basics of photography at an overnight workshop at BandCamp!

Our beautiful campsite is by the village of Uttan, which bursts with photo-worthy moments. Think colourful homes, intriguing faces, and plenty of glimpses of the local way of life. Fishing’s the mainstay here, and the nets, fish and boats are all fascinating subjects! And of course, there’s the beach, which is THE place for Instagram-worthy sunset shots! Plus, you’ll get the full BandCamp experience – chilling around the bonfire, live indie music performances, BBQ, and a sunset village walk!

Through the workshop, you’ll learn the basics of photography – understanding the Manual-mode, and camera settings, working in different sorts of light, and focus and composition. We’ll experiment in a variety of environments, both at the camp and in the nearby village, so you can try your hand at different sorts of photography. And of course, plenty of conversations with fellow enthusiasts and the expert instructor :)

Learn how to:

Use your camera in the MANUAL MODE instead of AUTOMATIC and SEMI-AUTOMATIC MODES

Set the FOCUS correctly to ensure that your pictures are always SHARP

Set the ISO, APERTURE and SHUTTER SPEED (exposure settings) according to how you want your picture to look

Choose a relevant DEPTH OF FIELD for example, focus on your subject and have the background go out of focus

Set the appropriate LIGHT METERING MODE, WHITE BALANCE, TONALITY etc.

COMPOSE powerful photographs, and more.

Understand image formats such as JPG, RAW, TIFF, RAW+JPG etc.

About the site

A stone’s throw away from the city, BandCamp is located off Gorai Beach. Its layout lets you enjoy nature and also have your privacy even though it’s a bustling campsite. Expect tents, sleeping bags and camping goodies, unwind in the main area, or walk around the fishing village down to the sea anytime. Since Uttan is a coastal town (home to the Koli community), meals are freshly made by locals.
