About the Event

At Talking Books, held at Great Sate Dive, we bring together readers and writers at a bar in Pune. The event will be led by Nandini Nair, the arts and books editor of the Delhi-based Open Magazine. The event will also enable readers to purchase books. The bookstore café Pagdandi will sell books at the event, so that readers can get a personalised copy from the author. The second edition of Talking Books will host author Shrayana Bhattacharya in conversation with Nandini Nair.

Shrayana Bhattacharya trained in development economics at Delhi University and Harvard University. She is a Senior Economist at the World Bank, based in Delhi. Her debut nonfiction book is titled Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh: India's Lonely Young Women and the Search for Intimacy and Independence. In the book, Shrayana maps the economic and personal trajectories of a diverse group of women who are united by a love for Shah Rukh Khan. Shrayana is the recipient of many awards, including the recent Best Nonfiction AutHer Award.
