About the Event
KCC is here with Thakurbarir Ranna – a culinary workshop steeped in the rich food heritage of the Tagore household. As a precursor to Rabindra Jayanti, this hands-on session will revive the gastronomic traditions of the Tagore household and recreate dishes once served in Jorasanko.
Led by a culinary historian and practitioner familiar with the rhythms and tastes of bhadralok kitchens, Subhajit Bhattacharya, the session unfolds the cultural memory and intricate details that shaped Tagore’s palate and poetry alike.
Subhajit Bhattacharya, a culinary historian, is the co-founder of Lost and Rare Recipes – an archive of uncommon recipes from all over the world, some perhaps lost in the annals of time. Born in Kolkata, Subhajit nurtured a passion for stories, first through media and events, and later, through food. During the lockdown, he founded Lost and Rare Recipes, a heartfelt YouTube project reviving forgotten culinary treasures.
At this workshop, he will lead the participants in rediscovering heirloom recipes, reviving lost traditions, and savouring the timeless magic that once graced the Thakurbari kitchen.
