About the Event

On the outskirts of Agra, in Sikandra, lies the tomb of Emperor Akbar – one of the greatest kings of the Mughal Dynasty. His remains rest in the truncated pyramid-shaped mausoleum, which is a five-storey building resting on a high stone platform. Before his death in 1605, Akbar started building the magnificent edifice at Sikandra which was later completed by his son, Jahangir. The tomb has Mughal elements like red sandstone and marble with inlay works and geometric patterns, that combines both Akbar and Jahangir's style. The tomb, as it stands today, is in a large walled garden on the Delhi-Agra road.
