About the Event

Don't miss this special opportunity to get a walkthrough by the curators of KNMA Noida exhibitions - OGGETTI TRA LE RIGHE – Objects Between the Lines & Purvaee - Evoking Pedagogic Lineages followed by a live piano performance and refreshments.

Curated by Andrea Anastasio and Domitilla Dardi - Objects Between the Lines explores the deep connection between literary texts and everyday objects, shedding light on how objects in literature transcend their roles as mere background details to become central characters in unfolding narratives.

Through three sections—Found in Translation, Scenarios, and Free Associations—this showcase reimagines the role of objects in storytelling, transforming them from background elements to central characters.

Join to see the cultural dialogue featuring works by design luminaries like Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Studio Formafantasma, and Indian talents like Martand Khosla.

The Italian Cultural Institute of New Delhi in collaboration with KNMA.

Curated by Avijna Bhattacharya - Purvaee features over 200 works from the KNMA collection, with many being historically significant and produced in the first half of the 20th century.

Purvaee, or the 'eastern wind,' explores the creative practices of artist-pedagogues conversing with those of the subsequent generations while studying the paths of artistic exchanges that shape present-day art. The teachings of Nandalal Bose, Benodebehari Mukherjee, and Ramkinkar Baij laid the foundation for artists like KG Subramanyan, Krishna Reddy, and A. Ramachandran, among others. One finds impressions and affinities in the works of Mrinalini Mukherjee, KP Krishnakumar, Pushpamala N., Bhagat Singh, and Manisha Gera Baswani that echo the masters' artistic expressions and values. The exhibition traces institutional resemblance in styles of expression and observation through the artworks.

Explore how these teachings evolved into individual practices while engaging with innovative shifts across generations of artists.
