About the Event

'We all have an expiry date' is based on the idea of interconnectedness between all of human beings as a collective through interpersonal relationships, as well as through conscious and unconscious participation in socio-political power dynamics. It tries to explore the connections, disconnection or division within relationships, within self and larger structures.

Everything has an expiry date - our lives, our relationships with others and even our beliefs can change, so perhaps we could all ponder upon how we affect ourselves and each other through various types of interactions, actions and decisions.

Choreography: Asha Ponikiewska

Performers: Rohee Uberoi, Sumeet Mohanty, Akhilesh Dayanand, Priyanka Lokhande, Rupini E.

The piece is using music tracks by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bob Marley, Sepultura, Eva Cassidy, Chandan Channaeshava

Note about Choreographer:

Asha Ponikiewska is a Bangalore based multidisciplinary artist of Polish origin who trained in Bharatanatyam, Seraikella Chhau, Yoga, Contemporary dance and Expressive Arts Therapy.

She abominates labels and enjoys experimenting with forms which allows her to feel at ease while working in the realm of slowness and stillness in the proscenium theatre settings as well as while dancing amongst the historical monuments of Delhi or busy streets of Bangalore. When she is not dancing she writes poetry and stories, rides a bicycle, paints, takes care of her plants or dog or simply lives her life…

Her work includes performing in theatre productions such as ‘Water Station’ dir Sankar Venkateshwaran, ‘Rorschach Touch’ choreographed by Diya Naidu, ‘Under Pressure’ dir Aruna Ganesh Ram, ’Stroll’ dir Moon Moon Singh,’Suraj ka Satwan Ghoda’ directed Rajkumar Rajak and choreographed her own pieces ‘Pocchawali’ during Gati Summer Dance Residency 2013 and 'Kintsugi' during Forum for Contemporary Choreography III. ‘We all have an expiry date’ is her most recent project.
