Come in, get a coffee, and listen to the varied sounds of Western classical music, by many composers from the well-known to the unheard of.

We can also spend a few minutes discussing what we like or dislike, to further our appreciation of the genre.

This is a first-time session and will not be focused on any particular composers or songs. We will be listening to recordings of pieces from different composers to get a feel for the breadth of styles found in Western classical as it has evolved.

The main ages of Western classical music: 

- Medieval or Gothic (approx. 800 A.D. - 1400 A.D.)

- Renaissance (approx. 1400 - 1600)

- Baroque (approx. 1600 - 1760)

- Classical (approx. 1730 - 1820)

- Romantic (approx. 1815 - 1910)

- Modern (approx. 1900 - present)

Anand was born and raised in Dubai, studied Electrical Engineering in the USA, and has lived in India since 2013 - first Goa, and now Mumbai. He plays the viola and the mandolin.

He has performed with the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra (in Dubai), the Old Dominion University Orchestra (in USA), the Goa String Orchestra, and Indo-German Festival Orchestra, and has been a member of the Bombay Chamber Orchestra since 2015.

He was a co-founder of Lemongrass Trio in Goa, where he and his guitarist would perform many Western classical duets and solos alongside their repertoire of classic modern covers.

His current work is with The Sound Space, a group of music teachers, teaching basic music skills and appreciation in classrooms around Mumbai.
